I want to buy a golden retriever but I don’t know at what reasonable price to buy it for. Any ideas?
Go to a rescue. $50
& alot of them are purebreds.
Go to a golden retriever rescue. Sometimes they have puppies too

I don’t know, but they are expensive.

One from a reputable breeder with all the right health test would run 900+.

They won’t go below a thousand dollars.
That is if they were from reputable breeders, so be sure that you get your pup from a reputable breeder.

If you’re buying from a reputable breeder, the puppy should cost you in the one thousands. Please contact the GRCA (Golden Retriever Club of America) for referral.
Of course you could spend less and buy from an unethical breeder, but you may encounter genetic problems down the road.
If you want to spend less initially (a few hundred) you acknowledge that the dog probably came from an unethical breeder, and you adopt. Unethical breeders do not take their dogs back at any time (while reputable breeders insist on it), so they end up at shelters/rescues. Breed rescues are the best, because the dogs are kept in foster homes.
Madison, that’s a very ignorant statement. The goal of a reputable breeder is to an improve his/her breed of choice.
EDIT: Please do not buy a dog from Next Day Pets, Puppy Find, etc. Those websites are filled with backyard breeders that do not have titled, genetic tested dogs.

It depends on where you go. From society’s they’re anywhere from $50-$200. However from a breeder they could get far over $200. Please don’t buy from a breeder, most of them treat their animals horribly. The living conditions are just horrendous! Society’s are much better, please check one out near you.

There is a huge range- you can always buy a poorly-bred byb dog for a couple hundred bucks from your local classifieds or a website. But you’ll be getting a dog likely to have health and behavior problems, and you’ll be contributing to byb’ing. Pet stores tend to charge quite a bit, but that doesn’t mean you’re getting a good dog; you’ll be getting a poorly-bred dog likely to have problems, and you’ll be contributing to puppy mills.
You can always adopt! Shelters and rescues are full of adorable, healthy puppies, of all breeds and mixes. But if you’re set on a breeder, go through the Golden Retriever breed club, and only contact approved breeders.
Good luck!

Golden Retrievers are sweet lovable dogs. Your best buy is from your local rescue, They will most likely be spayed or neutered and have current Vaccinations. They usually have large litters and are so popular there are a many to choose from. Do your own research. Occasionally a breeder will have a retired male or female available to adopt. Look at all your choices before you buy on a whim.
