That's a nice doggie pool. With its sloping exits it looks like it was built for doggie swimming. I took my doggie to a similar pool in Lancaster, PA but it was outside and you could go in the pool with your dog. For a dog's first time swimming it was set up the same way except there were 2 guys holding the riens on both sides of the pool while the dog swam down the middle of the pool lengthwise.

It was not a swimming lesson, it was her first time in the water, and it was free. Im not that stupid to pay for a swimming lesson for dogs that are natural swimmers.

The jacket was only for a couple of minutes then taken off. She was scared of the water at first and that was why we had to ease her in, she wouldn't jump in to retrieve anything etc.

I honestly think you got ripped off if you paid for swimming lessons for a dog, no less a Golden Retriever. Golden Retrievers are natural swimmers. They were bred that way (for duck hunting). Just like they naturally have gentle mouths and retrieve things (so the game is undamaged).

Nevertheless, she's a very cute dog. I want a Goldie so bad but I'm not in the right situation for one right now.

a whole 8ft deep? did it have a current? would you have been unable to help? i have a 9month old lab (shes awesome) i lobbed her ball in the lake and after a bit of consideration she just went in, she literally just swam. none of this crap with jackets n pools. get real!!!! that said, my dad chucked me in the pool too and it didnt hurt me. There is far too much of this nonsense in the world today. did that swimming lesson cost you money? if so you've been had.

It is recommend that the first time a dog goes into deep water they have a life jacket on in case, as some dogs can fret in an unstable environment and drown very easy. At least you understand!
