    Food And Water Dishes

Your golden retriever puppy will need dishes; there are many of these available everywhere. It’s the material they’re made out of that is most important. Plastic bowls are cheap, come in lots of fun colors, and are washable; all of these things are good, except your golden retriever puppy likes to chew. There is a good chance, either out of boredom or just being playful, that your puppy will chew up that bowl. Pieces of the plastic bowl could come off and become a choking hazard. Also, plastics hold oils that, no matter how much you scrub, will remain on the surface of the bowl.

Glass bowls are a good choice for your golden retriever puppy because they are not of a curiously feeling or smelling material and are not as interesting to chew. If you look at the dishes people eat off of, they are usually ceramic or glass. These are a safe choice for your puppy for the same reason. They are easy to clean, they are fairly durable as far as wear and tear are concerned, and they don’t lend to, or take anything away from, the food or liquid you fill them with.

    The Food And Water

All dogs need high quality foods and fresh clean water. Ideally, a golden retriever puppy’s water would be changed at least twice a day or even more frequently on very hot days. While dogs aren’t able to taste their water like cats can, for health reasons, you should discourage your puppy from drinking from a puddle or other drainage water source.

High quality food is very important; consider what you would want to eat for yourself when deciding which food to buy for your golden retriever puppy. While a variety of foods might seem like a good idea, commercially available food should not be changed too often as it can cause digestion problems.

Any food you buy should be made of not less than 25% protein and be designed for adult dogs, not puppies. If you have the time or the desire, foods you prepare from fresh foods are the very best foods you can get for your golden retriever puppy.

    Grooming Supplies

Golden retriever puppies require little grooming; regular brushing, bathing, and prescription flea medication will keep your puppy happy and healthy; for these things you will need minimal supplies. These supplies should include a quality shampoo preferably designed for golden retrievers, but at least designed for medium coats; a pin brush that will reach down into the thick undercoat to remove excess hair, a heavy steel comb for getting clumps out of the coat, blunt tipped scissors for trimming fur, and thinning shears for neatening up fur.

    Outings

For leaving home, your golden retriever puppy will need only a few things. For riding in the car, a carrier that can be strapped down in your car/truck/van is very important for safety; think of this like a car seat for your baby or small child, this is not a question but a necessity. A collar and leash are important, too. The collar should be a break away style if you have a link style fence, or if the golden retriever puppy is kept in a crate at home. The collar is also important for holding identification and license tags.

A leash is essential for taking your puppy on walks, as most public places will enforce the leash law. The collar may need to wait until you actually have the golden retriever puppy to find the best fit; the travel carrier should be purchased before you buy your puppy, as you will need a safe way to take it home from the breeder or kennel. You can find carriers anywhere that has golden retriever puppies for sale.
